Great idea, but a lot of progressive thought from Cali never seems to make it across the country. When politicians realize that pollution is a global problem and not confined to political or even regional boundaries, only then will we see a change in Washington.

The article makes a good point about community and uniting for a common cause. If the Hudson were to flood, I’d bet heavily on a screaming press conference where everyone berates Mayor Bloomberg for not doing anything about it.

Interesting take on the locavore question: is it really cheaper to buy (or grow) food locally instead of purchasing it from a store? Despite the economic argument, I still prefer eating my own lettuce and carrots.
